Why I Never Go In the Supply Room at Work

The other day as I went to get something to eat in the kitchen in my home, I noticed that I managed to bake zucchini bread, clean the silverware drawer and rearrange all the spices before I got out. And, I forgot to get something to eat.

It reminded me why I swore off going into the supply cabinet or room at work and here is why….

Sitting at my desk, my pen runs out of ink and I head off to get another.

I walk to the supply room, turn on the light and immediately notice that someone has left some notepads on the counter, which I quickly reshelve.

I open the metal cabinet to get the new pen I need and notice that all the post notes are have spilled out of the plastic packaging they come in so I pull out the rest and neatly stack them on the shelf.

At this point my eye wanders to that pen a I need only to get caught on the highlighters that are all mixed together and I reorder them into the separate colors again.

Now I see the legal pads are askew and neaten them, arranging the white ones together and then the yellow ones. All neatly stacked when I am done.

The file folder box has been opened and heaven forbid, someone has mixed in hanging folders so I make sure every folder gets back to their right box.

The tape now has moved over into the staples area and I get them all back to their rightful place only to notice there are leftover wrappers from the post notes that need to be thrown away.

As I put the wrappers in the trash I notice the white holes from the three hole punch are leaking all over the counter and I take the three hole to the trash and empty it.

While I am at the trash I notice it is full so I bag it up and head out back to the dumpster to throw it away.

Now I am back at my desk and I still don't have a pen with ink.
